Seismic Sicilia: epicentre of the Mediterranean Sea, Europe, Africa and Asia.

For thousands of years, Sicily has been the centre and pivotal point between civilisations in the continents of Europe, Asia and Africa. Besides its rich and vast prehistory, Sicily was thought to be the legendary homeland of the Cyclopses and mythical sea monsters Scylla and Charybdis. In fact, some believe this is the very setting of Odysseus’ fateful encounter with Polyphemus and the Scylla and Charybdis in Homer’s Odyssey. Sicily is discussed in both Herodotus and Thucydides’ histories, in their telling of the ancient Greek equivalent to world wars of between the Persian Empire and Greece and between Sparta and Athens. Retrace the steps of warriors and legends on this mythical island, renowned for its beauty and cultural riches.
